Create and sell audioguides
GTG 10 Step Guide.
Creating and selling audioguides through Guide To Go is simple – but success requires quality, structure, and attention to detail. This guide walks you step by step through the process, from idea to a published and sellable audioguide.
Step 1: Planning
Everything starts with an idea: What do you want to tell – and where will your audioguide be experienced?
This could be a city guide, a themed route, or a specific experience.
At this stage, you also define the length of your route – meaning how many “stories” (points of interest) it will include.
Step 2: Script writing
We recommend writing your full script in a single document (e.g. Word), so you have a clear overview of your entire route and all points.
A good rule of thumb is 120–200 words per point of interest, depending on the topic and level of detail.
Guide To Go also offers a digital writing guide with tips for creating engaging audioguide content.
Step 3: Access to Publisher
Publisher is the platform where you build and manage your audioguides.
You will receive access via username and password.
Here you create routes and their points of interest.
A route includes a description and cover image, while each point contains title, text, translations, audio files, geofence, and up to 5 images.
Step 4: Translations
Today, most translations are done using AI.
You are expected to be familiar with tools like ChatGPT and Gemini or similar.
We recommend translating via English:
If your original script is in Norwegian, first translate it to English, then use that version as the base for other languages.
Translations are added in Publisher under each language.
Publisher also includes a built-in AI translator, but you are responsible for quality control.
Step 5: Voiceovers
A great script is essential – but poor audio can ruin the experience.
AI voices now offer very high quality and enable fast, cost-efficient production.
We recommend tools like ElevenLabs.
Audio files are generated externally, downloaded, and uploaded to Publisher.
Publisher also includes a built-in voice generator, but quality may vary.
You can also use real voice actors. Many choose a hybrid approach: real voices for key languages and AI for the rest.
Step 6: Placements
In Publisher, you place each point of interest on the map using geofencing.
We recommend testing the route physically to ensure accurate triggering.
You can easily adjust placements as needed.
Step 7: Images
We strongly recommend using your own images of the locations you describe.
Modern smartphones can produce excellent quality.
Images are uploaded per point in Publisher.
Always credit the photographer if you use third-party images.
Step 8: Review & Publishing
Once your route is complete – including text, translations, audio, images, and geofencing – you submit it for review.
We review the content and publish your audioguide.
The standard retail price is NOK 95 (incl. VAT).
Step 9: Sales & Revenues
Your audioguide is sold through multiple channels:
– In-app purchases
– Guide To Go’s web store
– External partners via GoTo Hub
This ensures wide distribution and multiple revenue streams.
Step 10: Analytics & Payout
You get access to sales analytics and reports, giving insight into how your audioguides perform.
Payouts are made twice per year.
